What is a receiving depository financial institution?

Financial institutions wishing to accept ACH funds must be a Receiving Depository Financial Institution. They will be receiving indirect and direct debits or credits to consumer accounts from an ACH operator.

Receiving depository financial institution is also referred to as RDFI.
